Yale-New Haven Hospital has been named as one of the top 100 hospitals in the United States for cardiac care in a national study conducted by Solucient Leadership Institute, an Evanston, IL-based information company.

Yale-New Haven (YNHH) was recognized as one of the top teaching hospitals in the United States with a cardiovascular residency program and was honored among an elite group of national providers in the field of cardiovascular care. The study also cited YNHH for its outstanding patient outcomes associated with treatment for acute myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, angioplasty and coronary bypass. YNHH was one of only seven hospitals in New England to receive this honor.

"We are exceptionally proud of this recognition as it highlights the Yale-New Haven Heart Center’s dedication to providing patients with cardiovascular disease access to the highest care possible," said Kyle Kramer, executive director of the Yale-New Haven Hospital’s cardiovascular program. "This recognition is also a testimony to the high quality of the cardiovascular specialists, nurses, and technologists who provide care to cardiac patients at Yale-New Haven Hospital," added Kramer, who pointed to YNHH's cutting edge services as a major indication of the caliber of the cardiac program.

Yale-New Haven Hospital is a 944-bed, not-for-profit hospital serving as the primary teaching hospital for the Yale School of Medicine. Yale-New Haven was founded as the fourth voluntary hospital in the U.S. in 1826 and today, the hospital complex includes Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital and Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital, with a combined medical staff of about 2,400 university and community physicians practicing in more than 100 specialties.
