Oncology pharmacists play a critical role in the innovative treatments performed by Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven. You’ll be part of the team that’s developing personalized cancer care through innovative tumor profiling techniques and genetic counseling. You’ll be providing patient education and ensuring safe and effective therapy for inpatients and numerous outpatient clinics.
All of the staff at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital is dedicated to providing children with kind and compassionate care. As a pediatric pharmacist, you’ll help ensure that children receive medications that are safe and effective, while focusing on the unique needs of the patient.
At Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital, you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. You will help support and care for adults, adolescents and geriatric patients with a variety of psychiatric diagnoses. You’ll educate patients on their medication treatment while ensuring safe and effective medication therapy.
Yale New Haven Transplantation Center (YNHTC) provides expert and comprehensive care for adult and pediatric patients who are candidates for organ transplantation. Our Transplant Pharmacists help to optimize mediation regimens and provide education to transplant donors.
Our state-of-the art drug information center uses advanced literature retrieval and analysis services to provide electronic and print materials on-demand. The center provides support for our hospital’s patient care, education, research and community outreach efforts.
As part of our pharmacy staff, you’ll help support and review and develop new protocols, inventory control techniques, patient enrollment and randomization procedures. Your work will help advance the research activities of both the University and Hospital.
Point-of-care testing, patient education and medication therapy management are all services provided to patients in our Anticoagulation, Diabetes, Tuberculosis and Hyperlipidemia Clinics. Those are just a few of the opportunities you’ll have as a clinical pharmacist, as well as working with the Apothecary & Wellness Center (outpatient pharmacy), in the discharge/concierge program, providing services to clinic patients or working in the Grimes Center (skilled nursing facility).
Since our Central Pharmacy staff is supplemented by satellite stations in many other hospital units, you’ll have the opportunity to specialize in a wide range of patient care areas – Critical Care, Pediatrics, Oncology, Transplant and general Medical/Surgical. Our Radiation Therapy department is composed of Connecticut’s largest team of therapists, dosimetrists, and physicians. We are closely aligned with Yale Cancer Center, one of only 41 Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the U.S. designated by the National Cancer Institute. We are committed to providing the most comprehensive radiation therapy services in the northeast.
We are committed to supporting the ongoing education and professional development of everyone who joins our Radiation Therapy team. As a member of our department, you’ll use the most sophisticated technologies, protocols and specialty services available — including high and low dose Brachytherapy, IMRT and SBRT external beam-approached treatments, Gamma Knife and more. We opened the first Radiation Therapy School in the U.S. in 1964, and today we offer the only Residency program in Connecticut.
As a member of our Respiratory Care department, you will do rotations in Adult Specialty ICUs, a Pediatric ICU, a Level III Newborn ICU, and a Level 1 Trauma Adult and Pediatric Emergency Services unit. You’ll be part of a team of NBRC registered and registry-eligible practitioners licensed by Connecticut – a comprehensive team of professionals few other hospitals have the resources to support.
