Employee Recognition Programs
When our employees reach career milestones or go above and beyond in delivering top-notch service, we strive to recognize their efforts in every way we can.
- Our Performance Incentive Plan rewards all eligible employees if specific hospital-wide goals–including financial, patient safety and satisfaction, and other department-specific goals—are met each year.
- Department managers can nominate employees for Special Achievement Awardsof up to 2 percent of salary when they reach specific goals or perform at exceptionally high levels.
- Employees who reach significant milestones–beginning at 10 years–receive Years of Service Awards, and those who reach 25 years are honored at an annual celebration where they become part of the Quarter Century Club.
- Our Service Excellence Heroes program honors employees, physicians and volunteers who are nominated by their peers for providing the highest levels of service.

Of all the awards we've received through the years, we're extremely proud of the ones that show just how much effort we put into making Yale New Haven Hospital a great place to work.
- We've been named an Employer of Choice by Working Mother magazine, AARP, Family Digest, Connecticut Magazine and Essence magazine.
- We were one of only three hospitals in New England to earn a place on U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Hospitals: Honor Roll."
- New York magazine's "The Best Hospitals" list named us the #5 hospital in the tri-state area.
- 71 of our physicians were recognized by New York magazine's "The Best Doctors" list as being among the best in the New York metropolitan area.
- We were one of only two hospitals in the New York area—and one of only three in New England—to be included in Child magazine's "Best Children's Hospitals" list.
