Yale New Haven Children's Hospital's Allergy and Immunology Program is widely recognized as a leading center for the evaluation and treatment of infants, children and young adults with allergic disorders and inherited immunodeficiency diseases. Our expert team provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, therapeutic and consultative services, and medical management for a wide array of allergic diseases.
Both allergy and immunology pediatric patients are seen at our Pediatric Specialty Centers where treatment plans are tailored to each patient's specific needs. Patients have access to a wide array of diagnostic procedures including skin testing, food oral challenges and drug challenges. Allergy patients may also benefit from allergy shots given on-site while immune deficient patients benefit from a dedicated immune deficiency service with access to cutting-edge diagnostic testing and treatments like antibody replacement therapy.
Our pediatric specialists also work with dietitians, nurse coordinators, child life specialists and social workers as needed. Team members are specially trained in childhood development. Working in tandem with the family, the team establishes an individualized care plan for each patient to address his/her unique needs.

Our dedicated Food Allergy Program provides diagnosis and treatment for IgE-mediated food allergy whereby food allergies cause a child's immune system to react abnormally. The Program also treats less common food allergies such as cow's milk proctocolitis, eosinophilic esophagitis and food protein-induced entercolitis. Allergy specialists offer oral food challenges and collaborate with other pediatric specialists such as immunologists, gastroenterologists, dietitians, social workers, child life specialists and psychologists when appropriate.
In addition, we also offer a Food Allergy Prevention Program which is the first of its kind in the region. Yale Medicine allergy experts at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital work with families of infants who may be at higher risk for a food allergy due to a family history of allergy, eczema, or previous food reactions.
