Traffic Demand Management

The use of personal vehicles is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. Yale New Haven's Traffic Demand Management program provides numerous alternatives for commuting to reduce the number of employees using their own cars. These include a free shuttle service that drops employees off at commuter lots, bicycle storage, special parking for employees who carpool, monthly passes for CT Transit, allowing employees to telecommute and paying a subsidy towards the cost of monthly train and bus passes.

YNHH recognized for transportation efforts

In 2013, 2014 and 2015, the Best Workplaces for Commuters program recognized Yale New Haven Hospital for being among the top 25 organizations nationwide offering employees alternative transportation options. Best Workplaces honors employers that meet or exceed the national standard of excellence in commuter benefits created by the National Center for Transit Research and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

YNHH’s Transportation Demand Management program offers alternatives to single-occupancy vehicle use; helps address parking challenges; demonstrates environmental excellence by reducing gasoline demand, greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution; and exhibits corporate citizenship.
