Construction: Direction and Parking Updates

Due to construction patients and visitors should allow extra time to navigate the area. The George Street Garage entrance will remain open, but GPS might not be accurate during construction. Signs directing traffic will be posted. Emergency traffic will be able to access the Saint Raphael Campus Emergency Department.

Beginning May 27, 2024: The section of Orchard Street next to the Saint Raphael Campus Emergency Department will become one-way, traveling northbound between George and Chapel streets. The work is expected to last until 2026. Patients and ambulances will be able to drive up to the ED entrance, coming from George Street.

Two parking garages are available for patients and visitors and will not be affected by the construction: 

  • • George Street Garage - Entrance available at 629 George St., New Haven, CT
  • • Orchard Street Garage - Two entrances available, at 583 George St. or 1367 Chapel St., New Haven, CT

If you are dropping off or picking up a patient:

  • • Use the Saint Raphael Campus main entrance.
  • • On GPS, use 1450 Chapel St.

Saint Raphael Campus Endoscopy

Endoscopy patients should use the George Street Garage at 629 George St., New Haven, Level 1. Drop off available at 1450 Chapel St., New Haven. Follow the green signs.

McGivney Advanced Surgery Center

McGivney patients can use our valet parking at 1450 Chapel St. or self-park is available for patients and visitors at the George Street Garaage, 629 George St. Follow the blue signs.

Saint Raphael Campus Verdi OR

SRC Verdi OR patients should park at our new Patient and Visitor parking at 583 George St, New Haven. Proceed to floor 2 to cross over the pedestrian bridge. Follow the orange signs.

Parking availability and charges

Short-term patient and visitor parking is available at the George Street Parking Garage, 629 George St., and the Orchard Street Garage, 583 George St. Charges are $1 per hour for 4 to 7 hours; up to $20 for 7 to 24 hours

Long-term patient and visitor parking is available at discounted rates. Patients expected to be hospitalized for more than one week should discuss parking options with their social worker.

Patient-only Emergency Department parking is available in designated spaces in the George Street Garage. Patient parking is free for up to 3 hours in designated garage spaces. After 3 hours, vehicle owners are charged the short-term parking rate. See parking attendant at ED entrance for a ticket for the free, 3-hour parking.

Going Home

Your doctor will determine when you are ready to be discharged from the hospital. He or she will write your discharge order and, along with other members of your team, will provide instructions about continuing care and recovery at home.

The Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut

The Ronald McDonald House is a place where families can stay while their child is being treated at the hospital. A referral from a hospital staff member is required before a family can register as a guest at the House. A modest fee is charged per night.

YNHH offers transportation from the hospital to the Ronald McDonald House. Please call Protective Services at 203-688-2500 in advance of the time you would like to leave.
