Yale New Haven Hospital’s Nursing Professional Governance team comprises nearly 200 highly respected nurses, who apply evidence and standards of care to solve problems, improve nursing practice and ensure our patients have the best possible outcomes. Through Nursing Professional Governance, these nurses serve the profession on behalf of other YNHH nurses and interact with leaders and other healthcare professionals across disciplines.

Our Nurse Educators play a critical role in promoting the ongoing education and professional development of our nursing staff by working toward the highest quality care and best outcomes possible for our patients. Whether providing education for global patient services based initiatives or a specific service line, our educators ensure that our nurses have full access to the on-going training and education necessary to stay at the forefront of their chosen specialties.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends more frequent primary care visits for youth in foster care, who are at increased risk for adverse health outcomes. In response, YNHH nurses led a quality improvement project at three pediatric sites to help providers comply with AAP guidelines.
