NEW DISTRIBUTIVE FORMAT
The Paramedic Education Program offered by the Yale New Haven Hospital Center for EMS is approved by the State of Connecticut Office of Emergency Medical Services and is accredited by the Commission in Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs through the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Profession. This comprehensive course is approximately 1800 hours (hybrid, didactic, clinical and field internship) and is designed as an advanced level program that trains the EMT to the paramedic level based on the National Educational Standards.
During the course, the student will study advanced level anatomy and physiology and pathological processes. The student will learn advanced patient assessment techniques and treatment modalities including advanced airway management, IV insertion, fluid resuscitation, cardiac monitoring, drug and electrical therapies for medical and trauma-related emergences. At the conclusion of the program, students will be eligible to test at the paramedic level with the National Registry and will have earned certifications from the American Heart Association and the National Association of EMTs in ACLS, PALS, EPC, PHTLS, AMLS and TECC.
The course is designed in semester format and starts in the month of September each year and spans approximately 20 months.
To be eligible to attend the Paramedic Education Program, you must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid EMT certification and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Paramedic Programs Application
Applications can also be obtained in person at our office located at 77D Willow St. New Haven, or by email from the Paramedic Program Coordinator. The completed application and all required documents must be submitted to Paul Clini, Paramedic Program Coordinator in person or via email. Upon receipt of a completed application, you will be invited to take a brief entrance exam to assess your reading comprehension, math, anatomy and physiology, and EMT skills and then an interview with the program coordinators.
The current tuition for the Paramedic Education Program is $11,000 (includes ebooks).
Monthly payment plans are available for both the EMT and Paramedic program tuitions.
The Yale New Haven Hospital Center for EMS paramedic program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
