Two Yale New Haven Hospital nurses named nurse leader fellows

4/7/2011 — The American Organization of Nurse Executives has chosen two Yale New Haven Hospital nurse leaders to be AONE fellows this year.

Tracy Carafeno, RN, MS, patient service manager, women's services and surgical oncology, and Jennifer Ghidini, RN, MSN, patient service manager, medical intensive care unit (MICU) and the MICU step-down unit, have been named AONE fellows for 2011.

Carafeno joined YNHH in 1986 as a student nurse while earning her BSN at Salve Regina University. After graduation, she joined YNHH on the gynecological/oncology unit, where she was named assistant nurse manager in 1993. She later became patient service manager of the gyn/oncology unit and then the gyn/oncology outpatient treatment center. In 2008, she became patient service manager for the medical oncology/solid tumor unit and the hematology/bone marrow transplant unit.

Carafeno earned her MS in healthcare administration at the University of New Haven. She is a resident of Guilford.

Ghidini is the patient service manager of the MICU and the MICU step-down unit. She had been patient service manager of two general medicine units.

Ghidini earned her BA in psychology at Central Connecticut State University. She earned both her BSN and MSN at the University of Maryland. She began her YNHH career in 2003 on the general medicine unit. She became a certified family nurse practitioner in 2005 and is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives. She lives in Meriden.
