He has a particular interest in hereditary muscle diseases such as myotonic dystrophy, which is characterized by progressive muscle weakness and difficulty relaxing muscles after contraction. His clinical practice includes the use of electrodiagnostic medicine, which involves electrical testing techniques like electromyography and nerve conduction studies, to diagnose and manage these conditions.
As an assistant professor at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Hameed's research focuses on improving diagnosis and treatment strategies for neuromuscular disorders. He earned his medical degree from Quaid-e-Azam Medical College in Pakistan. He completed his neurology residency at the University of Massachusetts and a neuromuscular fellowship at McGill University.
