    Biography - Lydia F. Aoun-Barakat, MD

    Lydia Aoun Barakat, MD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine, Section of Infectious Disease at Yale School of Medicine. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, and the American Academy of HIV Medicine. She is currently the Director of the Yale Center for Infectious Diseases, the Program Director of the Yale HIV Primary Care Residency Pathway, and the Clinical Director and PI for the New England AIDS Education and Training Center, CT regional partner site. In addition, she is a member of the executive board of IDSA/HIVMA, the DHHS/NIH Guidelines review committee, the National HIV Residency Pathway Consortium steering committee, and the New Haven Mayer’s Task Force on AIDS.

    Dr. Lydia Aoun Barakat was awarded and managed several HRSA grants that aim to enhance services and the quality of HIV care. Her research interests are HIV and aging and HIV workforce development. She is dedicated to expanding HIV educational platforms and championing effective initiatives in HIV prevention and treatment that improve the lives of people with HIV.
