Biography - Uzma Usman, MD

Uzma Usman, MBBS (a medical degree awarded outside of the U.S.), specializes in neurology with a focus on neuromuscular medicine.

She treats conditions such as ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), motor neuron diseases, inflammatory myopathies, and immune-mediated neuropathies including CIDP (chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy) and GBS (Guillain-Barré Syndrome). Dr. Usman serves as the director of the Yale ALS/Motor Neuron Disease Clinic and the ALS Association at Yale.

As an assistant professor of clinical neurology at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Usman is involved in research and clinical advancements in neuromuscular medicine. Her work focuses on improving diagnostic techniques and treatment options for patients with complex neuromuscular disorders.

Dr. Usman received her medical degree from Dow University of Health Sciences in Pakistan and completed her residency in neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute. She further specialized with fellowships in clinical neurophysiology and neuromuscular medicine at Barrow Neurological Institute, as well as an ALS fellowship at the University of Alberta.
