The Level 1 Trauma Center at Yale New Haven Hospital treats patients with severe life-threatening injuries. It is the regional referral center for the comprehensive management of traumatically injured patients.
Dedicated, independent areas for emergent evaluation for both adults and children contain cutting edge technology and specialty trained staff is available around the clock. Trauma surgery specialists are board certified or board eligible in both general surgery and surgical critical care, and provide state of the art, comprehensive care for a wide variety of critical illnesses and injuries. For patients requiring referral from areas remote from New Haven, Critical Care ground and helicopter transportation are available.
Yale New Haven Hospital's Trauma Center manages all critically injured patients through its critical care services; and treats patients with surgical emergencies both in the Emergency Department and in the hospital. These clinical missions are performed by a dedicated group of trauma and surgical critical care physicians who provide around the clock, in-house coverage 365 days a year.
The Trauma Center serves the state of Connecticut and the northeast and is a leader in trauma system development within the state.
