Yale New Haven's Neuromuscular Program is supported by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), and is a designated MDA-ALS clinic. Our team of specialists provides comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, consultation and management of a range of neuromuscular disorders.
Our neurologists are expert at diagnosing neuromuscular diseases with the aid of electrodiagnostic techniques including electromyography (EMG) to evaluate nerve and muscle function and pinpoint the nature and cause of neuromuscular problems.
Researchers at Yale New Haven Hospital are working to learn more about the causes of neuromuscular diseases and to find new and more effective treatments through clinical trials and through basic science laboratory research. Staff members serve on the North Eastern ALS Alliance and the World Federation of Neurology ALS Consortium.
“Dizziness” is one of the most frequently cited complaints when people seek medical help. According to estimates from the National Institutes of Health, dizziness, vertigo and balance problems affect between 15 - 20 percent of U.S. adults each year, with higher rates seen in people 65 and older. It affects females up to three times more than males.
