Smilow Cancer Hospital’s Toby Bressler elected as Director at Large for the Oncology Nursing Society

New Haven, CT (March 20, 2025) – Toby Bressler PhD, RN, OCN, FAAN Vice President, Patient Services, Smilow Cancer Hospital, has been elected as the new Director at Large for the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Board of Directors. Bressler’s election reflects her dedication to advancing the field of oncology nursing and communities.

“I am deeply honored to have been elected to serve as Director at Large for the Oncology Nursing Society,” said Bressler. “I look forward to contributing to ONS’s mission to promote excellence in oncology nursing practice, education, and research, and to advocating for the needs of oncology nurses as they continue to provide exceptional care to patients and families affected by cancer.”

Bressler has built a reputation for her expertise in patient care, leadership, policy and advocacy. Melding her faith with nursing science and social justice, Her advocacy has improved health-equity for at-risk communities while promoting access to cancer and palliative care among faith-based minorities. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to improving the quality of care for cancer patients and supporting her fellow nurses in the oncology community.

ONS is an association that represents 100,000 nurses and has 35,000 professional members. Its Board of Directors governs on behalf of members and has the ultimate authority for the activities of ONS. The dedicated group of professionals serve three-year terms and meet monthly to guide the strategic direction of the organization.

Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven is part of the nationally recognized Yale New Haven Hospital, and is affiliated with Yale Cancer Center (YCC), one of only 56 National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the nation and the only such center in Connecticut.
