YNHH is Connecticut’s top hospital
NEW HAVEN, CT (July 28, 2020) – Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) continues to rank among the top U.S. hospitals according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual “America’s Best Hospitals” listing. Of the nearly 5,000 hospitals surveyed, YNHH ranks nationally in 9 of 16 specialties.
“We are very pleased to be named to the U.S. News & World Report ‘America’s Best Hospitals’ listing,” said Thomas Balcezak, MD, chief clinical officer at Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS). “First, this honor spotlights the hard work and dedication of our very talented team of physicians, nurses and staff with deserved national attention and recognition. Second, as we have seen this past year, it has meant adapting to the rapid, and at times unpredictable and ever-changing landscape of healthcare. This designation is a reflection of that on-going commitment to those we serve at a time where our patients and their families have needed us perhaps more than ever.”
YNHH placed Psychiatry (#10) in the nation’s Top 10. YNHH also ranked well in Geriatrics (#20), Diabetes and Endocrinology as well as Pulmonology (each #31), Neurology and Neurosurgery (#32), Kidney Disorders (#35), Gastroenterology (#41), Ear, Nose and Throat (#48) and Orthopedics (#50).
The U.S. News “Best Hospitals” rankings rely on clinical data and on an annual survey of specialists. The rankings methodology factors in objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival, discharge-to-home rates, patient volume and nursing quality. In addition, patient outcomes, clinical services and processes, and compliance with best practices are also considered. The entire national listing is available online at www.usnews.com/best-hospitals.
