New Haven, CT (Nov. 11, 2024) – Yale New Haven Hospital’s (YNHH) Structural Heart and Interventional Cardiology programs, part of the Heart and Vascular Center, received a top five ranking by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation® (CRF) in the category of Structural Heart Disease at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics® (TCT) Annual Scientific Symposium held Oct. 27-30 in Washington, D.C. YNHH shares the ranking Yale School of Medicine (YSM).
The CRF’s 2024 Scientific Excellence Top 10 (SET-10) recognizes institutions making the most impactful contributions to interventional cardiology research. Launched in 2023, this global ranking celebrates excellence in research that is transforming cardiovascular care. YNHH’s multidisciplinary Structural Heart Program and Interventional Cardiology Program received a top 5 ranking in the category of Structural Heart Disease and was also has been recognized overall as a top 5 contributor in U.S. and a top 10 world-wide.
“I am thrilled that our research and work in the field of structural heart disease and interventional cardiology has received this recognition,” said Eric J. Velazquez, MD, physician-in-chief of the YNHH Heart and Vascular Center and chief of Cardiovascular Medicine, YSM. “This honor recognizes the teamwork of our interventional cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, with our patients benefiting from their findings.”
The SET-10 honored 29 leading institutions for their contributions to groundbreaking research. These institutions were recognized for their scientific impact across a broad range of categories, from basic science to clinical research, both in the U.S. and internationally.
The SET-10 rankings are based on cumulative scores from submissions received for TCT 2024 and celebrate institutions that are advancing interventional cardiovascular research. The rankings span six key categories: Global, United States, Non-U.S., Coronary, Structural and Late-Breaking Clinical Research.
