All employees are invited to “Let’s Talk: Mastering Civility – Fostering Positive Interactions In Health Care,” noon - 1:30 pm Thursday, Jan. 13 via Zoom. The presentation aims to increase awareness of incivility toward others and its impact on an organization; offer tips for improving inclusion, communication, trust and performance; and develop methods to create a respectful and thriving environment for patients and caregivers. Keynote speaker Christine Porath is a tenured professor at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, author of Mastering Community, Mastering Civility and co-author of The Cost of Bad Behavior. The Yale Center for Biomedical Innovation and Technology (CBIT) invites students, clinicians, programmers, engineers, designers and others to the 2022 Annual Healthcare Hackathon, to be held virtually Jan. 28 - 30. Participants will develop innovative ideas to positively change the patient experience and improve care access in five areas: telemedicine, access to information, access to diagnostics, care at home and inequities in access. Kendall Palladino, director, Spiritual Care, and Kristine Olson, MD, chief wellness officer, YNHH, will discuss the potential for posttraumatic growth despite struggles like illness, grief, the pandemic and caregiver hurdles.
