Kelly Moore, AIDS education, routine testing counseling coordinator, YNHH AIDS Care Program, received an Elsie Cofield HIV/AIDS Awareness Award Dec. 3. The New Haven Mayor’s Task Force on AIDS presents the annual award to individuals who demonstrate the ideals, compassion and service of the late Elsie Cofield, who founded the AIDS Interfaith Network in 1987. Moore has 26 years of experience in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention and education, including 21 years at YNHH. She earned her BA in sociology from Southern Connecticut State University.
On Dec. 18, 11 Yale New Haven Hospital employees graduated from the School at Work (SAW) program. The seven-month program teaches math, medical terminology, time management and other subjects to employees who want to get ahead in their careers, pursue a new position or further their education. The newest graduates started the program in January 2020, but classes were suspended until August due to COVID. SAW resumed with a hybrid virtual/in-person model. Graduates recognized at a virtual ceremony were Anadria Brown, Food and Nutrition; Jacquita Hinton, Patient Transport; Shantele Owens, Central Sterile Supply; Claire Bute, post-surgical unit (Main 6); Keila Luciano, Parking Service; Saudia Bassett, Food and Nutrition; Damaris Navarro, AIDS Care Program; Monica Osborn, OR Supply; Bernadette Tucker-Moore, Patient Resource Center; Elisete Freitas, SICU (SP7-1); and Tyron Houston, Environmental Services.
