YNHHS’ Heart and Vascular Center is sponsoring a digital conversation, “The Importance of Blood Pressure Management in the Greater New Haven Community,” 5 - 6:30 pm Wednesday, March 31. The American Heart Association event will feature information on blood pressure management and the importance of self-monitoring; address the population’s chronic conditions; and include a Q and A with healthcare experts. Nurses throughout Yale New Haven Health System are invited to register for the 13th Janet Parkosewich Nursing Research Conference, to be held virtually Friday, April 16. Registration is now open on the Infor Learning Management System. The keynote speaker is Marita G. Titler, professor, Rhetaugh Dumas Endowed Chair, associate dean for practice and clinical scholarship, and chair of the Health Systems and Effectiveness Science Division at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. YNHH will accept applications for advanced practice nursing (APRN) scholarships April 1 - 30. Apply online through Infor; click “Quick Links” and “YNHH Scholarship Application” for the Marna P. Borgstrom and Peter N. Herbert, MD, Yale New Haven Hospital Advanced Nursing Education Scholarships. The scholarships provide tuition assistance of up to $10,000 annually to qualified employees working toward advanced nursing education to meet requirements for an APRN license. From April 1 - 30, Yale New Haven Health System will accept applications for the Betty Ruth Hollander Engineering and Science Scholarships. The scholarships are open to children and grandchildren of health system employees, including full- and part-time employees of Yale New Haven, Bridgeport, Greenwich, Lawrence + Memorial and Westerly hospitals and the Grimes Center. Children or grandchildren who have been admitted as undergraduates to Yale College to major in engineering or science may apply; applicants may also be current engineering or science undergraduates at Yale. The page offers a wealth of information collected in response to the recent employee telecommuting survey. Employees can find tips on improving technology performance; setting up an efficient home office; remaining engaged as a team member; balancing home and work responsibilities; and other topics.
