Groundbreaking scheduled for Neurosciences Center at Saint Raphael Campus

Yale New Haven Health leaders will join local and state officials at a groundbreaking for the Neurosciences Center and Bed Tower project at Yale New Haven Hospital, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm Wednesday, Aug. 31, behind the Selina Lewis building on George Street. The event will be livestreamed; watch for communications with the link.

The groundbreaking marks the ceremonial start of the largest healthcare project in state history. The 505,000 square-foot, $838 million center will provide innovative treatments for complex brain and spine disorders, including tumors, epilepsy and seizures, movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and other conditions. It will include 214 single-patient rooms in two inpatient bed towers.

Some of the project work has already begun, including preparations for new buildings, utility work and construction of a new Orchard Street parking garage. The Neurosciences Center is scheduled to open to patients in 2027.
