The 2022 COVID bivalent (Omicron) boosters, approved by the FDA and CDC, are now available for YNHHS employees at onsite vaccination clinics. Though currently not mandatory, this latest vaccine is highly recommended to help protect against COVID-19’s latest BA.4 and BA.5 variants.
While the threat of new variants will always remain in the future, these boosters are expected to provide better protection compared to the original booster dose.
“What’s very clear and consistent across these vaccines is they keep us from getting severe disease that could lead to hospitalization or death,” said Richard Martinello, MD, medical director, Infection Prevention, YNHHS.
YNHHS is currently offering the bivalent (Omicron) booster free to YNHHS employees at vaccination clinics at each delivery network. The bivalent booster is available at the same locations, days and times of the flu vaccinations. Employees may receive the Omicron booster and flu shot during the same visit, but must schedule each vaccination separately. (Just schedule both shots for the same location, date and time of your choice.)
Schedule your Omicron booster on Infor, in the Employee Health section. (Flu vaccination appointments may be scheduled through Infor’s Employee Health section, also.) Appointments are preferred but walk-ins are also accepted.
“Thank you for doing your part every day to keep our patients and communities safe. Vaccination is another way that we can continue to safeguard the gains we have made in public health and our own health care,” added Dr. Martinello.
