Employees and the public are invited to a free Smilow Wellness Workshop, “Catching Some Zzz's: Healthy Sleep Behaviors,” 5:30 - 7 pm Thursday, Oct. 24, 55 Park St. auditorium. In this interactive workshop, pulmonologist Janet Hilbert, MD, and psychologist Lynelle Schneeberg, PsyD, of YNHH’'s Sleep Medicine Centers, will explore the causes of poor sleep, share tips for healthy sleep behaviors and answer questions about sleep apnea and helping children with sleep disorders. Attendees will also learn simple movements and breathing techniques to aid sleep. Registration is required. Register online or call 888-700-6543.
Employees are invited to a college fair, 10 am - 2 pm Saturday Nov. 2, Saint Raphael Campus cafeteria. The program is sponsored by the Institute for Excellence and Patient Services Administration. Representatives from local and online colleges will offer information on various clinical and non-clinical fields of study, including business, technology, RN to BSN, RN to MSN, MSN and DNP and other nursing programs. The fair will also include HR Connect tuition benefits information; the YNHH Pharmacy Tech Training Program; Language Services information on medical interpreter certification; and the Institute for Excellence career counselor, with career development information. To celebrate National Veterans Awareness Week, YNHH is holding appreciation celebrations Monday, Nov. 11. All YNHH employees who are past or current active, reserve or guard service members are invited. A breakfast will be held 7 - 9 am in the East Pavilion Special Events Area, York Street Campus, and a lunch, noon - 2 pm in the Selina Lewis Multipurpose Room, Saint Raphael Campus. The Friends of Yale New Haven Children’s Annual Ball will be held 6:30 - 11:30 pm Saturday, Nov. 23, at Anthony’s Ocean View. Cynthia Sparer, senior vice president of Operations, YNHH, and executive director, Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, will receive the 2019 Marna P. Borgstrom Lifetime Friend Award at the event. Founded in 1989, the Friends of Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital has helped improve the health and well-being of pediatric patients through support of clinical care, education and outreach.
