A recent Kronos upgrade allows all Yale New Haven Health employees to use Kronos clocks at any YNHHS location to punch in or out. The employee’s hours will be recorded for their delivery network and cost center, regardless of which clock the employee uses. The upgrade unified separate Kronos platforms at YNHHS’ different delivery networks under a single platform. Questions? Email [email protected].
Yale New Haven Hospital patients may now use MyChart to self-schedule X-rays and screening mammograms, along with certain ultrasound and CT scans. Once a patient’s provider submits a referral order to Radiology, the patient will receive an email notification to visit their MyChart account and self-schedule for their preferred time and location. Alternatively, patients can call Radiology Central Scheduling, 203-688-1010 (7 am - 7 pm daily) to schedule exams, including those not available for self-scheduling. To create a MyChart account, visit mychart.ynhhs.org.
Food insecurity has always been a problem for people in our communities, but COVID-19’s economic impact has meant that even more people can’t afford enough food to feed themselves and their families. In response, YNHHS is holding its first online food drive, at www.ynhhs.org/givehealthy, and inviting employees and medical staff to support hunger-relief organizations in the communities where they live and/or work. The drive runs through Feb. 14, 2021. It is being conducted through #GiveHealthy, an organization that provides an online platform for hunger-relief organizations to set up “registries” listing items they need. YNHHS employees, departments and medical staff can support one or more hunger-relief organizations in YNHHS delivery networks’ communities. Visit the website and choose the items you wish to purchase for a particular organization. Because the food will ship from suppliers directly to hunger-relief organizations, donors can purchase healthy food items, including fresh produce. YNHHS’ drive was developed and organized through a system-wide collaboration among Community Health Improvement, Community and Government Relations, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Human Resources, Marketing and Communications and Food and Nutrition. For more information, visit YNHHS’ GiveHealthy site, or contact Augusta Mueller, [email protected] or 203-688-3862.

YNHHS reminds employees of an important change that will affect your pay, beginning with your first check on Jan. 7, 2021. Employees working in Connecticut will see a payroll tax equal to 0.5 percent (one-half of 1 percent) deducted from their wages. This will fund the new Connecticut Paid Family and Medical Leave Program (CTPFML). The deduction is required by state law.
CTPFML will enable Connecticut workers to take up to 12 weeks of paid leave to attend to personal and family health needs. The amount of benefits an employee will qualify for depends on how much the employee earns. Connecticut joins a handful of states, including New York, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, in offering paid family leave.
By law, deductions begin Jan. 1, 2021. Benefits for qualifying life events will be available beginning Jan. 1, 2022.
They are capped at one-half of 1 percent (0.5 percent) of total wages (wages x .005). This equates to about a $5 deduction for every $1,000 in wages. The maximum amount of wages that can be taxed in 2021 is $142,800, consistent with the Social Security wage contribution rate. The state continues to finalize CTPFML details. YNHHS will share additional information about CTPFML, including how it coordinates with other leave programs and benefits, when available. More information is available at www.ctpaidleave.org.
