YNHH opens advanced ORs, welcomes new Musculoskeletal Center director

Richard D'Aquila, YNHH president, and Mary O'Connor, MD, incoming director of the new Musculoskeletal Center at YNHH and Yale School of Medicine, were among the guests at a Feb. 9 open house at the hospital's new operating rooms at the Saint Raphael Campus.

Yale New Haven Hospital unveiled two of the region's most advanced musculoskeletal operating rooms at the Saint Raphael Campus at a Feb. 9 open house and welcomed Mary O'Connor, MD, future director of the new Musculoskeletal Center at YNHH and Yale School of Medicine.

Open house guests had an opportunity to meet Dr. O'Connor, a national leader in orthopedic surgery and musculoskeletal diseases, and tour the new ORs. The new ORs for orthopedic and spine procedures were designed with input from leading surgeons. Each includes a "wall of knowledge," with flat-screen monitors displaying diagnostic images and detailed patient information. The rooms also include other high-tech components designed to maximize quality and safety, and will serve as prototypes for future ORs at the Saint Raphael Campus.
