Peace recognition announced

This employee received PEACE (Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence) recognition for going above and beyond to meet patients’ and families’ needs.

Ebony Johnson, RN, previously patient services manager, EP 6-7, was honored for compassionate care that went above and beyond for a patient – and his cat. While in the hospital, the patient learned that his home had burned down in a tragic situation that also resulted in the death of his son. Distraught, the patient learned that Sal, his 14-year-old Maine coon cat, had survived the fire but worried that the pet would not be properly cared for while he was hospitalized and without a place to live. Johnson offered to foster Sal until the patient could be discharged, recuperate and rebuild his home – which took over eight months. The patient was very grateful for Johnson’s offer to care for his pet, which gave him peace of mind and allowed him time to heal until he and Sal could be reunited.
