Suicide is preventable, but would you know the warning signs or how best to help someone in need? Yale New Haven Health’s Employee and Family Resources (EFR) Program is offering suicide prevention webinars, including one general session for all employees at 2 pm Tuesday, Sept. 3, and one session for managers on suicide prevention in the workplace at 2 pm Thursday, Sept. 5. In both webinars, participants will learn how to identify risk factors and warning signs and implement intervention strategies. To register, visit the EFR website. Employees are invited to a free session to learn about Medicare changes that will affect payment and clinical programming for skilled nursing facilities. The session will be 1 - 2 pm Tuesday, Sept. 3, Saint Raphael Campus Selina Lewis Multipurpose Room.

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion invites all YNHHS employees to Yale New Haven Health’s first Diversity Summit, The Power of Inclusion, 7:30 am - 3 pm Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Trumbull Marriott, 180 Hawley Lane. The event will feature a keynote address by Shakila Ahmad, president of the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati; educational breakout sessions and activities with diversity and inclusion experts; health system diversity and inclusion updates; and award presentations. YNHH is a sponsor of the Alzheimer’s Association’s New Haven Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Sunday, Sept. 29, at New Haven’s Lighthouse Point Park. Registration is at 8:30 am for the 10 am walk. The YNHH Heart and Vascular Center Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at 84 North Main St., Branford, recently received three-year recertification from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. The hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at 175 Sherman Ave., New Haven, is also certified by the association.
