PEACE recognition announced

These employees received PEACE (Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence) recognition for going above and beyond to meet patients’ and families’ needs.

The EP 10-7 nursing and multidisciplinary team was honored for compassionate care of a long-term patient. During his two-year hospital stay with respiratory failure, the patient required chronic ventilation and a tracheostomy. However, he was determined to walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding. The care team coordinated their services and worked together for months to devise a safe plan to get the patient to and from the event. On the wedding day, several staff from Nursing and Respiratory Therapy accompanied the patient to the off-site ceremony, where he was able to celebrate with his family.
